If you’re in the market for a composite door, you need to be aware that they’re not all created equally. Certain features of one composite won’t be present on another and so it pays to make sure that the one you choose for your home is one of the better ones. Here at Associated Windows, we install composite doors that are manufactured by Solidor. Solidor doors are a premium variety of composite door. Here’s what makes them stand out amongst standard variants:
Composite doors are fitted with either a dense foam or solid timber core as standard. This is done to improve the thermal performance of the door. However, Solidor composite doors are equipped with a 48mm solid timber core, which is 10% thicker than others on the market. This improves thermal performance significantly, allowing the doors to achieve energy ratings of ‘A’ as standard. However, it also makes the doors much sturdier than the competition.
Lock snapping is a common method that burglars employ to gain entry to the home. In order to prevent entry via this method, however, a door should be fitted with a Euro lock cylinder which has either a TS007 3* rating or SS312 Diamond approval. However, not every composite door will be fitted with a locking cylinder of this quality, meaning homes are being left at risk.
Fortunately, Ultion lock cylinders, which are SS312 Diamond approved, are fitted onto our Solidor doors. These offer considerably more protection than even the best 3* rated cylinders and can prevent entry even after being snapped twice.
With a Solidor door, the door’s inside and outside can be finished in 20 different colours. This includes exclusive colour finishes like Walnut and Duck Egg Blue, giving you considerably more choice than other doors.
These finishes are also what is known as ‘through colour’. This means the colour is present right through the material and is not just a surface finish. This ensures for a vibrant, long-lasting finish.
Customisation is not just limited to the door’s colour, however; in addition to this, you can also customise:
As you would expect from other quality composites, they’re also fitted with hardwearing Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) skins. These resist any knocks very well and are extremely easy to clean. Therefore, owners of these doors can enjoy a stylish exterior for longer without too much hassle!
